Maybe... but the beatles were musically revolutionary. They changed the way music works forever. Nirvana, like the beatles had their own "scene" and style that gave birth to a generation of people who shared some of the ideals and sentiments promoted by the music. Arctic Monkeys aren't revolutionary, from a musical perspective. Nor are they from a cultural one. I'm not dissing the band, but there's no way they possess the same significance as the beatles, or Nirvana.

I was at a foo fighters gig and dave grohl goes "Grunge never really died!...." and everyone is cheering and shit and then he was like "...because it never really existed!" and everyone just kinda looked at eachother and then the song started. Anyone know what this might have been about?

im not saying that you do need to be on drugs to ryt a song im just saying they undoubtably helped some bands especially recreational drugs like LSD. an ye drgs did also destroy a lot of bands such as nirvana but they also helped a lot of bands in a lot of ways

Yes, You are right, but did the song made them famous? They were already famous performing those songs (well maybe except Golden Brown). I wouldn't give so many awards to drugs:) They were perfect in what they did thanks to their talents and personality, the drugs went in and yes the songs were done while being High or as a tribute to drugs. Drugs also destroyed those bands.(not in all cases)

i'm sure in 20 years time green day & artic monkeys will prob be famous 2. btw the artic monkeys have actually sold more than the beatles. nobody really thought of nirvana as being legends in their hayday but they r classed as them now. and u don't hav 2 be stoned 2 write songs uknow.

I think Kurt is hot for a druggie dead awesome musician. I wish he was still alive. Then Nirvana could still be recording, hopefully. RIP Cobain.

ok the arctic monkeys an greenday arent legends i must admit i dont like either of them but you have to admit there big bands an there all on drugs. an ye drugs made the beatles an oasis famous an bob marley an the stranglers without drugs they would never have sang songs such as. i am the walrus lucy in the sky with diamonds morning glory champagne supernova three litlle birds i shot the serif golden brown goon tell me im wrong
